Contact Us

PVC Electrical Tape Company is a manufacturer of fsk foil scrim kraft tape for FSK-faced insulation sealing and repair. The tape uses a foil-scrim-kraft laminate structure: aluminum foil on the surface, glass scrim reinforcement inside, and kraft backing for stable handling. It is used to close insulation facing seams, repair small tears, and help maintain vapor barrier continuity on HVAC duct wrap, fiberglass duct board, and mineral wool insulation facing. It is not made as a general aluminum foil tape, fiberglass cloth tape, or electronic shielding tape.

Applications

  1. HVAC duct wrap sealing where FSK facing is used.
  2. Fiberglass duct board seam repair and small facing patching.
  3. Fiberglass insulation facing repair for foil-faced blanket systems.
  4. Mineral wool insulation facing repair on mechanical insulation systems.
  5. Foil-faced insulation repair for tears, cuts, overlaps, and pin holes.
  6. Pipe insulation and jacketing repair where matching FSK facing is required.
  7. Vapor barrier repair around corners, joints, pins, washers, and cut openings.
  8. Slit rolls for insulation contractors, duct wrap suppliers, and converting lines.

How Does FSK Foil Scrim Kraft Tape Help Maintain Vapor Barrier Continuity?

When FSK-faced insulation is cut, joined, overlapped, or punctured, the opened edge can become a weak point for moisture movement. FSK foil scrim kraft tape helps close this area with a matching reinforced laminate instead of a thin single-layer foil patch. The foil surface supports the vapor control layer, while the glass scrim/kraft backing helps the repaired area resist tearing and movement. This is useful on HVAC duct wrap, fiberglass duct board, and mineral wool insulation facing where the repaired surface needs to stay continuous, pressed down, and visually consistent with the original facing.

Product Overview

FSK foil scrim kraft tape is made for insulation systems that already use foil-scrim-kraft facing. The aluminum foil layer helps keep a bright, moisture-resistant surface across the repaired area. The glass scrim reinforcement adds strength when the tape bridges cuts, overlaps, pin holes, and small punctures. The kraft backing improves stability during hand placement, so the tape is easier to press flat on duct wrap, fiberglass duct board, pipe insulation, and blanket insulation facing.

This construction is the main difference from ordinary aluminum foil tape. A single foil backing may work for basic reflective sealing, but it can be easier to wrinkle or tear when used across stressed insulation facing seams. FSK tape has a reinforced backing structure, so it is better suited for facing patching and seam closure. It is also different from fiberglass cloth tape. The glass scrim is held inside the laminate as reinforcement, not exposed as a woven fabric surface.

For factory sample checks, the tape is usually applied to clean, dry, oil-free FSK facing. Initial wet-out can be observed after firm hand pressure or roller pressure, while a stronger bond is normally reviewed after 24 h. Edge lifting, liner release, adhesive transfer, and residue after peel-off can be checked on the actual insulation facing before bulk use. For cold rooms or outdoor HVAC installation, low-temperature bonding can be confirmed with the selected adhesive grade.

Key Benefits

  • Helps seal facing cuts, overlaps, pin holes, and small tears on FSK-faced insulation.
  • Supports vapor barrier continuity around duct wrap seams, duct board joints, and repaired facing edges.
  • Glass scrim/kraft backing improves tear resistance when the tape is pulled across uneven insulation surfaces.
  • Silver foil surface gives a closer appearance match on common HVAC duct wrap and foil-faced insulation.
  • Acrylic or rubber adhesive grades can be selected according to tack, temperature, and facing condition.
  • Release coated kraft liner keeps the adhesive cleaner during wide-roll handling and manual placement.
  • Typical factory test range can include 3.5-8.0 N/25 mm peel adhesion and 50-120 N/25 mm tensile strength.
  • Sample seam checks may include 24 h edge lifting observation, residue observation, and low-temperature bonding review.

What Makes FSK Tape Different From Aluminum Foil Tape and Fiberglass Cloth Tape?

FSK tape is built for insulation facing repair, so its structure matters. Ordinary aluminum foil tape is usually a foil backing with adhesive, mainly used for reflective sealing or general metal-faced surface repair. Fiberglass cloth tape uses an exposed woven fabric backing, which suits some high-strength or heat-related applications but does not match FSK insulation facing. FSK foil scrim kraft tape combines foil, glass scrim, and kraft backing in one laminate. That makes it more suitable for duct wrap seams, vapor barrier repair, and reinforced foil-faced fiberglass or mineral wool surfaces.

FAQ

Is this tape the same as ordinary aluminum foil tape?

No. It has aluminum foil, glass scrim, and kraft backing, so it is better matched to FSK-faced insulation repair than a single-layer foil tape.

Can it be used on mineral wool or fiberglass insulation facing?

Yes. It is commonly used for mineral wool insulation facing repair, fiberglass duct board seams, and foil-faced blanket insulation patching.

Does this tape have fire certification?

A tested grade can be supplied when the required report is confirmed. Fire-related claims should be based on the exact product grade and certificate.

What should be checked before bulk use?

Check surface cleanliness, overlap width, liner release, peel adhesion, 24 h edge lifting, and vapor seal observation on the actual insulation facing.
